Google Maps has always been our ally with its dependable navigation capabilities.
Google has unveiled a new feature that will let users share their real-time location with friends for a particular time frame chosen by the user.
The update will come to both Google’s Android OS as well as Apple’s iOS, which virtually covers all the smartphones.
The new location sharing and tracking feature will come in handy for users to find each other at crowded places like concerts, conferences, festivals, said a Google’s Spokesperson.
“When you’re sharing your location, the people you’ve chosen to share with will see you on their map,” a spokesperson for Google said.
“You’ll see an icon above the compass on your own map reminding you that you’re actively sharing your location.
“You can change your mind and stop sharing at any time – it’s entirely up to you.”
The location sharing feature not being a mandatory setting will not bother much to the users concerned with privacy. Google will also keep notifying the users about the location sharing via email as well.
